Wealth Management & Member Distribution Advisory Committee (WMDAC)

Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it is looking for community members who are interested in providing input on how the Nation approaches long-term wealth management and considers future member distributions.

This advisory Committee will help review and develop a Wealth Management and Member Distribution Policy for Council’s consideration and approval.

The Committee will engage with members to gather input on important principles, priorities and considerations related to long-term wealth management and member distributions.

The Committee’s role is to help shape recommendations for Council’s consideration. Final decisions remain with Council in accordance with applicable financial laws, YQT policies and budget processes. The Committee is advisory only and does not make final financial decisions or approve payments.

The Committee will:

• review draft policy ideas
• consider community priorities and long-term sustainability
• provide input on possible principles for member distributions
• consider how different revenue sources may be addressed in policy
• provide recommendations to Council.

Committee Composition

We are seeking up to five members, including at least one Elder and one Youth. The Committee will also include a Council representative and a staff liaison to support the work.

Interested members are invited to submit an Expression of Interest.

  • A short statement outlining: Why you are interested in serving, what perspective, experience, or knowledge you would bring to the Committee, and your interest in supporting long-term community sustainability and member wellbeing

Indicate if applying as an Elder or Youth representative (if applicable)

Appointment Process:

Committee members are appointed by Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi‘it First Nation Council.

Members will be appointed by Council by resolution. Administration will coordinate the recruitment process, assess applications against the eligibility and qualification criteria approved by Council in this Terms of Reference, and provide a list of eligible candidates for Council consideration.
