DESCRIPTION

Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it First Nation (Tobacco Plains Band) is a rural First Nation located near Grasmere, BC, in one of the most beautiful and natural parts of British Columbia. The Junior Forester is a temporary, full-time position that supports the Forestry department with field-based forestry operations and data collection. Working under the direction of senior forestry staff, the Junior Forester assists with activities such as forest block layout, timber volume estimation, field reconnaissance of proposed harvesting developments, and vegetation and site assessments. This role involves working outdoors in remote forest environments and requires the ability to identify key plant species, recognize wildlife signs, and document field observations that support forestry planning and referral reviews. The Junior Forester contributes to responsible forest stewardship while gaining practical field experience in forestry operations.
